The Young Bulls headed off to local rivals Penallta for a Dragons League Match, looking to build on some recent good results and strong performances.
Bargoed were impressive in attack and worked hard in defence, and can be satisfied that they played some great rugby against a well organised Penallta outfit.
Bargoed’s forwards worked hard and carried effectively to get over the gain line and get their talented backs on the front foot.
The set piece was once again solid and Bargoed’s hard working back row were very busy in the loose.
Excellent interplay resulted in Bargoed scoring four tries with Lewis Cooper again impressing both on the wing and later at scrum half as he helped himself to two tries, and Joel Griffiths and Captain Jack Price added to these. Rhys Thomas added the extras with a conversion in the 22-5 victory.
The squad are now developing really well under the watchful eye of coaches Darren Lloyd, Ian Davies, Aaron Hughes, Vinny Lott and Huw Jones, and the support team of hard working parents all doing their bit in the background.
Team Manager Graham Mayo said ‘This was another good performance by the whole squad. These boys work so hard in training that they deserve to get the rewards.
We had a few players out injured but we’ve got a great squad who work hard for each other. The boys on the field today took their chances, and the competition is pushing everyone on to improve, and it’s great to see.
Penallta are a good side so we are very pleased to get a victory away from home, and look forward now to the next set of league games with also a cup game coming up’
