Bargoed RFC enjoyed a double win for their senior teams on Saturday with both the 1st XV and 2nd XV racking up impressive victories in their respective league matches. The Youth didn’t have a game but did have a very successful fundraiser event as they look forward to their end of season tour.
It was good to see the Bargoed RFC Supporters Club having a great turn out and in good voice at the game on Saturday after a pre match lunch at the club with their guests.
WRU President Dennis Gethin, WRU Board Members Ray Wilton and our own Robert Butcher were in attendance to enjoy the banter and stories from Bargoed’s Barmy Army.
This Saturday sees all three sides at home, with the 1st XV facing Swansea, Warriors v Ammanford and Youth v Chepstow.
In the evening Bargoed RFC welcome Wales Coach Shaun Edwards to the club for an evening of stories, defence talk and fun, starting at 7.00 pm.
It’s good to see both the Warriors and the Youth in with a chance of some silverware as the business end of the season approaches.
The 1st XV also have an exciting couple of weeks ahead as they chase Premiership survival, and on the back of two successive home victories, and with four of the six games at home who knows what could happen.
There’s one thing for sure though, this hard working squad will fight all the way, and may have a say in who wins the title with both Cardiff and Merthyr to come.
Congratulations to recent birthday boys Brian Jeremiah and Ashley Norton.
Congratulations and well done also to Bargoed product and Scarlets scrum half Jonathan Evans and his lovely wife Nia on the birth of their daughter Mabli Alys Evans.
Congratulations also to Jonathan’s parents Denise and Huw (Bargoed RFC Vice Chairman) on becoming grandparents, well done all.
