Fairness, Dignity and Respect

Bargoed RFC is committed to equality and this is enshrined in our constitution which states that
“Membership of the Club shall be open and not unreasonably restricted on the grounds of sex, race, age or of political, religious or other opinions, to any person who is prepared to accept and support the objectives of the Club”.

The officers and committee feel that the principle which applies to membership should extend to the practice of how the Club, officers, committee, players, employees and supporters conduct themselves at all times and in particular, on match days.

Each and every one of us associated with Bargoed RFC should treat others as we expect to be treated ourselves. This does not mean an end to the banter and humour which makes watching rugby enjoyable. But it does mean being aware that we have a responsibility to treat everyone, regardless of gender, ethnic background, sexual orientation or age with fairness, dignity and respect.

The committee requests and expects players, members, supporters and those we welcome as visitors, to observe these principles, particularly as they relate to players, coaching staff and match officials – in particular referees.

Furthermore, Bargoed RFC, as amember club of the Welsh Rugby Union is bound by its own Equality Policy. Full details of the policy can be found at:
www.wru.co.uk/eng/thewru/equality_standard.php. Equality training is offered by the WRU at regular sessions each season.

Values and Beliefs

History and Legacy
Bargoed RFC has a rich history, which is based on the people who have made the club great. The club values tradition, whilst also embracing change. This translates into legacy by players, members, volunteers and other stakeholders committed to leaving the shirt or club in a better place through our hard work and influence.

Community
Bargoed RFC is the hub of the local community and values the support and hard work of all those involved with the club as volunteers. There is a recognition of the value that community brings to provide rugby and social opportunities through the game on all levels for all members and stakeholders of the club and community.

Excellence
Bargoed RFC will strive for excellence both on and off the field for all of our stakeholders. We aspire to be the best that we can be as a player, member, volunteer or other stakeholder to ensure that the Bargoed RFC brand is recognised and respected both locally and nationally.

Teamwork
Bargoed RFC are committed to developing people through the sense of being one team. The importance of respect, honesty, support and aligned thinking and doing is critical in building our team. The team are more important than the individual and we strive to be team builders not team busters.

Respect and Friendship
Bargoed RFC are committed to be the best they can be both on and off the field. We will strive for success, and play hard on the
field, but respect our opponents, opposition supporters, and match officials and ensure that our off field relationship develops into a mutual friendship with other members of the wider rugby family and community.
