Bargoed RFC have a big week ahead with the 1st XV entertaining Cardiff RFC at home (kick off 2.30 pm) and the Youth XV playing in the Dragons Plate Final at Rodney Parade, Newport against Abertillery RFC (1.30 pm kick off)
The Warriors await confirmation on a fixture after securing the National 2nd XV Conference title with a 31-12 victory over Risca at home. There were tries from Ian Jenkins, Adam Jones, Niall Alexander, Lewis Wayman and Rhys Humphries with Lawson Perry adding the extras. Congratulations to the players and coaching and management team, well done lads.
The Youth secured their spot in the Dragons Plate Final with a nail biting 13-12 victory over Newport based St. Julians.
This was an excellent team performance against an experienced home side who play in the Dragons A League.
Bargoed managed to move their big forwards around and played with great commitment, working hard throughout.
Jake Rees scored two tries and Rhys Thomas kicked a penalty. Daniel Mayo was outstanding in defence, and up front Jack Price carried effectively alongside fellow hard working back rowers Keaton Davies and Luke Cusack.
The squad now look forward to the opportunity to pick up some silverware with the business end of the season well and truly upon us. Good luck on Saturday boys.
On Saturday evening there will be a Bargoed’s Got Talent and Fancy Dress evening kicking off at 7.15 for all players, coaches, committee and supporters, with band Wild-side performing later.
