Bargoed Youth entertained Chepstow at Bargoed Park on Saturday and went down 36-8 to a well organised and skilful outfit.
This was Bargoed’s poorest performance by far this season, and there are plenty of work on’s in training this week.
There were still a few positives though with some good individual performances in particular scrum half, Shaun Scrivens who defended superbly, and was described by the coaches as having ‘the heart heart of a lion’ with his workrate in attack and defence.
Bargoed’s points came from a try by Captain Keaton Davies and Rhys Thomas with the conversion and a penalty.
The squad will be looking for an improved performance this week with an away game at RTB Ebbw Vale.
This week the 1st XV host National Championship newcomers Ystalyfera, who had a good win last week against Glamorgan Wanderers.
The Warriors are also home in a National Conference tie against local rivals Penallta. All games kick off at 2.30pm.
On Wednesday 30th October, the 1st XV face Monmouthshire County at the Caerphilly County Borough Centre of Excellence, Ystrad Mynach. Kick off is 7.15pm with all gate proceeds being donated to Mind Cymru.
