Bargoed Warriors travelled to Rumney, Cardiff on the weekend and came away with a 22-14 bonus point victory in a scrappy but tight match in difficult conditions.
The Warriors had a number of players unavailable or injured but with the Youth team game off it gave a number of Youth players another opportunity to step up into senior rugby.
The Warriors scored four tries through John Lavender 2, Aaron Elliott and Kayne Greenslade, picking up the bonus point try at the end of the game.
There were some good performances with Jack Price, Morgan Lloyd, Glenn Lucas and Ryan Sadler showing up well. Props Lavender and Elliott worked hard throughout
Behind the scrum Youth boys Rhys Thomas and Lewis Cooper showed some nice touches alongside the more experienced Luke Ellaway.
Best wishes to the injured list with quite a few players unavailable for selection at present. James Locke Ben Jones, Jordan Purcell, Steffan Thomas, Rhys Humphries, Luke Cusack and Lewys Lippiett should all be available over the next couple of weeks. Ian Jenkins, Luke Smalley and Lewis Johnson have longer return to play dates.
This Saturday the 1st XV entertain Glamorgan Wanderers at home. Both the Warriors and Youth are in the pool for games.
On Wednesday 22 January the 1st XV will face Nelson RFC in a Mid District Cup tie. Kick off time TBC.
