The Warriors travelled to Mountain Ash on the weekend for a rare friendly and came away with a 17-12 victory. There were tries for Jordan Purcell (2) and Ashley Gibson, with the winning try being set up by Warriors Team Manager and Attack Guru Gary Jones making a welcome return to the side.
Bargoed Youth travelled to Abergavenny for their first game in the second phase of the season after winning the Dragons B League.
There were a number of injuries and unavailability so they travelled with a squad of 17 that included 5 props, and no scrum half.
They came away with a hard fought 20-17 victory with tries for hard working and versatile second row Tom Collier and talented outside half Rhys Thomas. Thomas also contributed 10 points
Ieuan Dymond stepped in to play scrum half and grew with confidence as the game progressed, with a man of the match performance.
The pack dominated the game in what were difficult conditions and worked hard throughout.
This week the 1st XV travel to Port Talbot to face Tata Steel in a National Championship fixture. The Warriors are home in the National Conference to Brecon, and the Youth are in the pool looking for a game.
