It was a mixed bag last Saturday with the 1st team winning 46-7 at home against Cross Keys and the Warriors going down to Cardiff Met on the 4G at the university ground. The Youth game against Caldicot was called off on Saturday morning.
The Warriors faced Cardiff Met in a National Conference East game and came away with two bonus points after their first defeat of the season, going down 42-36 against a well organised Met outfit.
They managed to get five tries in a game that was a great advert for 2nd XV rugby and the National Conference. The try scorers were Adam Jones 2, Lewys Lippiett, Jack Price and Mike Kavanagh.
It was good to see Morgan Lloyd make his senior bow this season after a period on the sideline.
They remain in second place behind Cardiff Met four points adrift with a game in hand.
On Wednesday the 1st XV entertain Treorchy at Bargoed Park in a Mid District Cup Match with a 7.15 kick off.
Bargoed know that this will be a tough battle, with Treorchy riding high in Division One East Central with an unbeaten record.
Treorchy have previously defeated Bargoed in the final of this competition, and long been District rivals, so there will be no complacency in the Bargoed ranks.
Bargoed RFC would like to thanks Coors Brewery, Phil Steele, Dan Lydiate and Scott Baldwin for a great night last week at the club with a Worthington Wednesday.
On Saturday the 1st XV travel to Beddau for another National Championship tie, while the Warriors face Rumney at home in a National Conference game. The Youth are also at home against Chepstow in the Dragons League. All games kick off at 2.30pm.
The following day Wales play France in the Rugby World Cup quarterfinal… so let’s give them the support they deserve. Our own Warriors Captain Ian Jenkins and ex player, coach and motivational guru Ron Stoate will be there flying the flag… enjoy it boys!!
